Scientific Conference "1st International Scientific Conference of Research on Family Services"

On 11-13 March, 2019, the 1st International Scientific Conference of Research on Family Services was organized by the Center for Family Research of Nicolaus Copernicus University.
The inaugural lecture took place on March 11th in the conference room of the Council of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University. During the plenary session, lectures were given by the special guests: Prof. Brian Taylor of Ulster University, Belfast and Prof. Steven Sek Yum Ngai from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Ignacio Socias from the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) and the director of the Center for Family Research, Dr. Jaroslaw Przeperski also gave speeches during this session.
The main purpose of the conference was to reflect on research on family and children support systems, which are the basis for creating policies and solutions based on scientific knowledge and evidence. An important goal was to establish a cooperation network of significant research centers undertaking research in the field of family.

The conference participants were mainly scientists from foreign academic centers. The invited participants came from 20 different countries from 5 continents. Among the participants were researchers from: King's College London (United Kingdom); Osaka University (Japan); Princeton University (USA); Chinese University of Hong Kong (China); University of Auckland (New Zealand); Strathmore University (Kenya); Ulster University (Northern Ireland); Brigham Young University (USA); Lomonosov University (Russia); Doha International Family Institute (Qatar); Durres University (Albania); VIA University College (Denmark); University of Zagreb (Croatia); Saint Petersburg University (Russia); Democritus University of Thrace (Cyprus); Ecole Universitaire Internationale (Italy); and Pablo de Olavide University (Spain).

 

The conference was organized as part of the project "Cooperation - effective and efficient" co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund - Priority II (Effective public policies for the labor market, economy and education, Measure 2.5. Effective social assistance, Operational Program Knowledge, Education and Development for 2014-2020).
